Found this in a roll of 73s clad proof ikes. There are notches in all of igwt and in some of the above lettering like the R & C of states but less spread. Also on one dollar but even less pronounced. I'm not that good with ike varieties so any help on which one this is or if it's a good one or not would help a bunch. Thanks guys! @19Lyds @Rick Stachowski
O-boy, here we go again and I'm fresh off of just doing a Ike . I need a closeup of the R in LIBERTY and the Mint-mark too .
Thanks Look at the R of dollar too. Notching is there and look at the lower inside. Almost looks like a dddr?!
There's only one that has images of the doubling ( IDDDO-73 ) on E PLURIBUS UNUM . Here's the link to check the images out . http://www.ikedollardoubleddie.com/1973-p-d-s-ddo-ddr.php
Look for the one that has this listing . 1973 S Silver PF Obverse Discovery Coin: IDDDO-MD-1 73 S IDDDR-M IDDP-3. Cross Reference: Attributed by: IDDD Thomas Kalantzis. Class: Obverse Master die. Reverse Master die DDR and Master Hub DDR. Submitted by: Robert Ezerman. Obverse Description: IDDD-MD-1. Reverse Description: CCW Quadrupling and Tripling. A few letters of united show tripling. Stronger on states of and onto America. Stars show doubling to Quadrupling. Strongest from star 9 to 13. E Pluribus Unum is doubled, "tripling" is seen as well. Doubled FG. Doubling visible on some leaf tips and leaves. Earlier copies may show a separation on the branch as well. Most visible doubling is seen on the right side of the olive branch. left branch tip shows doubling. A & R of DOLLAR shows Master hub doubling on the bottom of each left foot. Marker: Obverse Surrogate Master Die. Reverse Quad DDR. Re-hubbed (Working die) over Master hub DDR. The earth has a scratch on the right side going in a W to E orientation. Secondary master hub marker seen between the A and R of DOLLAR, marker shown below. Date Recorded: 2/13/2013. CD. POPULATION: 2. Comments:Master 3 DDR. Obverse of coin shown is Stage C in MDS. Reverse is early. There is a second Master M2 DDR with the two points on stars 9 and 10 being doubled and not tripled as M3 is. As well as a third Master M1 with same 9th and 10th star points not doubled at all, with the rest of the DDR being the same. All three masters have the same master hub DDR. Picture shown below of the bottom of the foot of the A in DOLLAR. Thank you to Steve Palladino for providing the proof that was needed. There is a CN proof with same DDR. This new evidence shows that this DDR may be from a master Master hub/Master die. We are waiting for the CN coin to come in for a final determination. The second master with the two points on stars 9 and 10 being doubled, not tripled. Is M2. The third master with 9th and 10th star points not doubled at all, the rest of the DDR same as above. Is M1.
Also, didn't notice before but all the stars are split too. More pronounced on the right stars though
There's 3 different working Dies for that one and I think your fits under this one too, because yours is a proof ..
So silver dies and clad dies were made from the same hubs? I must say I'm a bit confused with reading the descriptions and such. I feel like I did when I first started vamming. Maybe I should just send this one to anacs or whoever looks at them for the IDDD site?
If you read the comment section from post 6, there's CN ( Clad-Nickel ) too and their waiting for one to study . Looks like your the one .......
So what should I do? I feel stupid for needing my hand held with this but I'm not afraid to show weakness in the face of gaining numismatic advancement. And thanks for all your help rick
I just talk to tom yesterday and I'm sending him 5 I have . I just sent him a message about your coin, when he reply back I'll let you know ...
Whoops, must have glazed over this. Here they are if you still need them. Had a devil of a time with a clear image of the mm though...
Whoops, too late to edit but in my original post I meant notch doubling on EPU... not igwt... BUT there does appear to be very subtle notching on obverse igwt
