12:00.. yes it's covering it. I hate when that happens. Must be a very minor clip.. so minor that you can't even see a Blakesley Effect
I would have preferred it put in the holder crooked so you can at least see what the error is! Might have to try the vibrating toothbrush trick on this coin if I get it, haha.
NGC Places most of their coins in this same direction. I always wondered if you can have them show an error such as a clip by rotating the coin slightly. Maybe ask them? I have a few Slabbed errors that are covered.
It might not work if the prong is right against the curved clip. It's going to be tightly held in place.
That's one of those things you just kind of have to laugh at. It's not really the fault of the person who holdered it as they don't know any better but someone should have sent a note with it.
Lol, does the electric toothbrush thing even work with these type of holders? I think I'd just either send it in for a reholder.
Great error! Shame about the holder. Ever think of sending it back to them and ask them to rotate the coin so the error shows?
I don't think I have ever seen a coin turned in these holders, so I doubt it would work. It isn't my coin, but if I got it, I would have to really think about it.
It's interesting that this subject came up because a similar discussion arose on the NGC forums shortly after the new "Edge View" holder was released in 2008(?). At that time, however, the problem involved the 4-prong Edge View which has the prongs at 2, 4, 8 & 10 o'clock. It happened that one of the prongs hid the error. NGC responded by stating that the 4-prong holder was the only one available. Now, it seems that they have a 3-prong configuration, and my question would be, "Why didn't they use the 4-prong configuration which would not hide the error?" Chris
