I like JFK's... especially (obviously) the 90%... ...they're also fun to give to cashiers working at fast food restaurants and see the blank look on their faces as they try to figure out what it is...
I also remember I've got 20 of these by themselves. This one a little toning around the rim, but I don't know if it is worth grading.
I would also like to see Reagan on the dime, but Nancy Reagan was opposed to it when it was proposed in 2005. A switch back to the classic designs would be cool but I doubt itll happen
I actually wrote to my legislators recently asking them to inquire again about replacing Roosevelt on the dime with Reagan. I also inquired about whether my legislators would support introducing legislation to strike 50th anniversary commemorative Eisenhower dollars in 2021. Upon initially speaking with the office I got the we'll inquire about the dime; but they were very receptive about a potential Eisenhower 50th anniversary coin. But anyone who's interested in seeing changes on certain coins by all means write your legislators it's very easy to do online and they always get back to me pretty fast by email or phone.
Im sure political affiliation during an election year, could have an effect on the level of excitement of your representatives to make changes. Just my thoughts anyway.
I've found that both my house and senate representatives are extremely responsive all the time despite political affiliation. After all every citizen within their regions is their constituent regardless of whether they support that party or not. I actually contact them pretty frequently about a myriad of issues and their offices send me surveys or requests for feedback, etc. Our government representatives are there for our benefit after all but I think most people seem to overlook that and never contact them.
I email my representative and Senators pretty often as well, and they're pretty mixed. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) always responds, Sen. Roy Blunt (R) responds sometimes (almost always right now, he's up for re-election), Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D) never responds, and State Sen. Will Krause (R) always responds. I did email McCaskill, Blunt, and Cleaver about a Reagan dime yesterday, so far no responses. A while back I emailed about making a dollar-sized medal for Jimmy Carter between the Ford and Reagan Presidential dollars to be included in proof and mint sets, and Sen. McCaskill said that if a bill were proposed it wouldn't get passed in time.
My favorite to begin with, I have all the P,D, and special strikes, except for the 2014 gold one. Not too many proofs though, just some silver ones and the 1964 w/o accented hair.
I've been itching to get back to taking and posting photos! I've been avoiding it the same way you avoid scratching a mosquito bite.... I gotta scratch just a bit right now! (with a crappy phone pic) I know, I know. Afterword I'll only feel guilty and probably be admonished for the mark I leave (on this thread) by not simply waiting for my ability to take good photos to be restored thereby curing the itch naturally. I care not. Aaahhhh.... That's better!
Kennedy halves are my favorite modern coin, and I don't agree with the policies of Kennedy. It's just a strong design. Good portrait of kennedy and good reverse.
