    How could a finned rim occur inside the reeded edge? I never gave this any thought.

    I don't think it is a cud, but I have to admit that I have a hard time assessing the images from your extreme close-ups. The surfaces of the coin, even the upper surfaces of the letters, are too rough. This isn't natural, and I think you need to adjust the magnification for your images.

    002.2, 004.4, etc. now looks like beginning of a rim break.

    I just found a confirmation quarter looks exactly the same as the one I posted this tells me that that hammer die has crack at that position on the die creating what we looking at

    I was surprised by the UV photo it shows a different perspective of the dye break
