    Are you sure? The rim looks slightly up-turned to me.

    Note where the light and dark areas meet just inside the edge from about 12 o'clock to 4 o'clock. I could be wrong, but it suggests to me that it turns upward very slightly.

    I forgot to ask, "What does it weigh?"

    I think the light and dark is because of the lighting I am using. How big of a difference does it make between the 2 types. If it is a big enough difference I will make more of an effort to show it.

    Eric. A Blank is Flat. A Planchet has an upset rim. I see a Planchet with an upset rim

    You are thinking of this on a milled Dime with a Rim;

    But it is actually this

    after looking into it a little more I believe you are right. It looked like a type 1 at first. But I have a question about difference in value on something like this, is there any?

    It's very hard to prove whenever it is a blank even if the weight is correct. Suppose you find one in an original Mint bag. Do you think anyone is going to take your word for it that it came from that bag? The grading services might believe Fred Weinberg or Ken Potter, but Joe Schmo? Hell no!

    Nope! Take a look at the planchets that Paddy posted.
