I bet that 1803 large cent was BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) when it was dropped but now it is BU (Beat Up)!
TD banks penny arcade machine was broken. Drachma, euro, tokens, reject US money, other foreign coins clogged the inside. I kneel-ed down, stuffed my pockets with everything. I noticed a penny sticking out under the screen. I got my receipt from my coin dump in the working machine, and got it. I pulled out two pennies, i thought there were more. Took my receipt, wiped again, and again. 2 Uruguay coins, 10 1/2 (I'm not joking) pennies, and a 1964 Canadian cent. This happened a month ago, i never posted a topic, but i will soon.
When I was a teen my father built an addition to our house. In order to do that he needed to tear down the back porch. It was a nice screened in porch that had been there since the house was built (1927) and was heavily used especially during the summer. Over the years all kinds of change had fallen through the slits between the boards of the porch floor. After he tore the porch down, it was like hitting a silver coin jackpot. I found at least a couple dozen silver coins in the dirt underneath...that was the start of my coin collection.
Steve if you can we would love to see pics of these finds sounds like you need to get into metal detecting
My mom made quite a find one day she found a 1919 and a 1916 buffalo nickel and the 1943 S, D and plain Steel wheat cents all in the same spot. I still wonder how it all got there.
On the floor of an oriental supermarket, i looked down and saw a penny so I picked it up. It turned out to be a 1942 wheat cent!
When I was about five I used to walk along the outside of my grandparents house. My grandfather had an office window right next to his drive way one evening I found an Indian head cent in the drive way and I walked back to see if there was any more change along the ground I found another one. I caught out of the corner of my eye my grandfather throwing the coins out the open window for me to find.
Best coin find was a 1910 wheat cent about 3 years ago at my former job (retail) and best paper money find was $100 bill about 15 years ago.
I found a $100 bill in a WalMart parking lot about 15 years ago as well. I also found the owner, so gave it back, but still a fun find!
