Come to find out one of the Alexander tetradrachms attributed to Mesembria under Mithridates VI shares an interesting obverse pellet with @4to2centBC 's gem from the Triton Auction.

The reverse scratches are not as prominent and nearly invisible in hand.

and 4to2's gem... possibly a die match?

The more I look at it, the more I believe that is an obverse die match. First one I have come across, and I have looked everywhere.

It might be self serving, but I have to say that is a beautiful portrait. :artist: Especially for a Mesembrian.

The position of the dot to the hair, plus the hair design, and the shape of the knot under the neck all say different to me

Although I could make an argument the one in my collection is from Antioch but the one from the lot is from Sidon. Do I really need two? Which one do I keep?

If I have to choose, I'd keep the one from Sidon. I like the portrait style better.
