Wow!!! You found this in a roll of pennies? Was it a customer wrapped or machine wrapped roll? Looking at it, it might be in the $325 - $375 range.
You waited that long to be curious about the value? Wish I had that kind of patience!! Now that was a roll worth buying - unless it went for 1500$ LOL!
I saved them, several rolls, for Christmas with my kids.I think I paid around $70 for the roll it came in.
Nice coin! I collect $2 1/2 (though mainly Indians). Tough to tell from the pics, but looks cleaned to me. You can see some luster around the stars, then it disappears in the main surface area, and looks darker, meaning probably somewhat shiny. I would say $240-$275. Maybe up to $300 if you get a bidding war.
I don't mean to sound ugly but I have had people tell me stuff like that then offer to buy for cheap.I'm not implying that's what you are doing it's more of a reaction I guess. Thanks.
No worries. In hand it might not look cleaned, and it might just be the pics. I buy and sell these all the time, so if I was bidding on yours, based on those pictures, I would bid thinking it was cleaned. Then if it wasn't I would be happy.
Congratulations I don't never buy unsearched rolls especially pennies all the seller has to do is put one wheat on the end that you can see and the rest be modern, I see some of them penny rolls going for over $15 bucks to, imo you got very fortunate but I say again congratulations
Thanks, they were advertised as estate sale rolls so I guess they didn't open them.I actually got two Quarter Eagles the other is not as nice. Also a Flying Eagle cent and plenty seated and winged liberty dimes.
You need to post this roll find here https://www.cointalk.com/threads/roll-searchers-post-your-results.10176/page-1601 Congrats an an awesome find!
I will add this: A lot of times, these sellers will advertise things like "Gold found!" and post the feedbacks to prove it. If he averages $70 a roll, he can afford to throw a gold in occasionally and still come out way ahead. Just something to think about.
