The improper cleaning crossed my mind. We will see when I have it regraded. If my memory serves me well, I likely only paid less that $50 for that particular coin at a antique country auction not specific for coins.

Out of curiosity why you would prefer a 64 or 65 over a 66?

    Welcome to CT Brien.

If it were me, I'd pick out one or two of the best coins and send them to NGC. You'll need to crack them out of those slabs prior to submission. Then you'll be able to compare the NCG slab vs. a reputable graders opinion. It might be a good starting point.

As for current pricing, I've found Heritage Auctions archives to be very useful in determining current value of coins.

I forget exactly where it would need to be, and is something you'll have to figure out on your own, but it would be fairly easy to end up buried in the coin if you indeed submit. Do double check this, but I'm thinking your break even point, assuming a low level submission, would be 61-62 after the cost of the coin and fees. Again, I simply cannot see the photos well enough to he comfortable giving an opinion, but from what I can I'd have to say this is likely the best case scenario. Perhaps I'm wrong and I'd love to be so, but thus far I'm just not seeing it.

Please understand that not all coons need or deserve to be slabbed. In fact, a great majority, including Morgans, have no business being in slabs, but an unfortunate reality of this hobby today is that far too many people believe or assume the opposite. On this very forum we regularly have people asking is this or that coin should be submitted, and most of the time it would be a complete waste of time and money because the end "value" simply isn't there. A coin, any coin, is what it is inside or outside of a slab; the slab doesn't change what the coin is, so the only thing submitting can (not will) do is add to it. If the holder adds little to nothing (liquidity, etc) to it, it's simply not worth it. If you're unable to take/post better photos of the coin, please do consult whatever dealer you were planning to submit through before deciding to do so. Any half way decent dealer should be willing to tell you if you're wasting your time or not.

Ya know, it really isn't a big deal to me. I have probably about 200-250 Morgans, half of which are slabbed by the proper NGC people. Not to worry, I was merely curious about this one. It is fun to see the various replies because I learn something new from each and every one of them. Thank you all and keep em coming!

I will likely take this one to be regraded if it is worthy of such a coronation(LOL) and will certainly let you all know what is at the end of this unravel. Thanks again.......... you guys are good guys, as they said in a popular movie, "Goodfellas"...

Aside from established members, one never knows who they're talking to, so I thought it best to err on the side of caution. No harm intended.

If you do end up submitting, please do update once you know the results.

I'd call it a 63 and possibly cleaned from what I can tell of the pics. Definitely not a 66
