Need an expert opinion on Mexico 50 centavos

The 1918 larger 50 centavos coin is one of the key dates for Mexican coinage. Attached is a picture of one that's for sale. The seller seems like a reliable person, but the 8 looks weird in the date to me. I compared it to another image of a similar coin and while that 8 also looks a little odd, it doesn't look as odd as this one. Anyone know if this looks authentic?

he guaranties all his coins to be authentic 100% and will fix it if there's a problem. he does have a 100% positive Ebay feedback rating too.

Looks like a couple small hits on the 8, but looks perfectly fine to me.

Thanks. I just thought it looked odd and I know sometimes people can modify dates. And I'm not expert enough to figure that out on my own.

    Nope, it's a one-sided coin.

It does actually but I just posted one side because it was the date that worried me. If I buy it I will share it with everyone. I'll probably get too high though.

I understand now, you don't have the coin yet, yes please post a pic same quality as the Obverse pic you posted. Excellent picture. I was burned on a few Mexican coins and I have a few old silver ones, thanks, Ed

I have a picture of the coin for you to check out, some pretty good pictures at this address. I've been on this site for a while now and it has helped me a lot on counterfeits. This should take you to the right page without a login. Click on the image, excellent pictures.

I see what you mean about the date and I noticed the mintmark (M) is not the same either, take a look I hope this helps you out. The address will pull up the same coin that you are inquiring about.

That is the smaller version, the one he is asking about is the larger version. That is the reason for the differences between these two.

While I am drug free, I did just watch a series about selling marijuana in Colorado, so Freudian slip?

No luck. It went for a lot higher than I was willing to spend.

Ah sorry to hear. Hopefully you find one in a lot or a newly listed buy-it-now at the right price. How I got most of my collection

I bid on one a few months ago that sold for $50 less, so I know it's possible. I guess someone just wanted this one more. I just need the large 1918 and the 1908 to complete this series.
