Get an account with a bank/credit union that has a free coin machine. That's what I do.

Earlier today I posted my 1945-P silver war nickel and 1952-S finds from the nickel rolls. Just went through the cent rolls and found a 1948-D and 1955-P cent. Unfortunately, it's not THE 1955, but my heart stopped for a split second. Happens every time I see that date.

Unfortunately, two of the coin machines at banks near me won't take the half dollars. They just go around and around but never go into the machine. All other denominations work fine though.

Do you know what kind of machine it is? Just curious.

Not sure, I can check next time. A third bank I use has the exact same coin machine though and that one takes halves no problem. I'm guessing it has something to do with how much the machines are used and the two probably need some maintenance.

They can set it up that way and adjust how many bags they have for each type of coins. I use the same type of machine at different branches. One has 2 bags allocated for nickels and the other only has 1 bag. I've just never heard of a machine flat out not accepting a type of coin. Interesting :)

The one had until recently (about a month ago). The teller at the other bank said their machine never seemed to accept them for some reason. I'm hoping the one will start accepting them again soon.

Maybe you can ask, since you are a customer and will be using it for halves? Just a thought.

    2 rolls of quarters. Nothing.

I am sticking to dimes and halves for a bit. Really just hunting for silver.

Hey guys, I forgot to mention this penny I found in that last box. I'm wondering if this 1964-P is a mistake or maybe a mirror proof?

In the pictures below, the new coin I just found is in the middle. The other two, I had previously found. As you can see, the first coin is a light copper color and the last coin is more of a red copper color. The new coin is yellow and it has toned somewhat iridescent around the edges. Very curious. None of the other pennies I've ever found have this shade.

    What do you think?

Finished 2 boxes of cents tonight. Nothing spectacular. 27 wheats (oldest 1911). And a nice red 1956P. That was about it.

    22 CWR Nickels: 40-S, 46, 46-S, 48-D, 49, 50, 53-D, 53, 54, 54-D, 56-D (x2), 57, 58-D, 59-D (x2)

Nothing special, but it fed the addiction for another day. I picked up a box of cents I'll start working through later today so the adventure continues. :)

Well that box didn't take long... a nice solid box of shiny 2016 cents.

Taped 'em up, chucked 'em on the stack, and we'll see what the next pick up from the bank brings my way.
