I guess that as something of a purist I think 58 should just be just high point rub; this one has some loss of luster in part of the left obv field so I think 56.5 is about right, LOL
Yeah, I would expect a 58 to still have some decent luster. Either way, AU58's can really be nice coins and IMO, this is one of them! I only guessed AU. '21 Peace Dollars are really tough to grade from only photos.
Now that we know the grade on that gorgeous AU, here's one that may be a bit more difficult to grade. I picked it up in a set over the weekend. It isn't as nice, but as long as we're playing with difficult coins to grade...
Fine Details, Environmental Damage, Cleaned I would have questioned the authenticity also, could it be saltwater damage?
Problem coin You should start a thread with the following poll choices»»» 1)Metal Detected 2)Sea Salvaged 3)Tooth Brushed 4)Ajaxed 5)Counterfeit 6)All of the above
The surfaces on your latest post look very odd, like they were sand blasted or something. It must be the photo. Without better pictures, I won't even hazard a guess.
Ditto what he said, when the flash comes on accidentally whilst I'm taking a photo, this is what the coin looks like. To clarify, my above post was just a cruel and sick joke.
