AU details, cleaned. $225-$275ish depending on who you get interested. Probably the lower to middle of that range though.

What specifics shows that it was cleaned and how can I look out for this in the future?

All the hairlines that run horizontally on the reverse. These coins have an unprotected flat surface (the fields) so they are very susceptible to hairlines EVEN WHEN THE COIN IS NOT ACTUALLY CLEANED!

The hairline scratches (mainly on the reverse). Like mentioned, these coins will get these marks EASILY, and I have seen some MS graded ones with them. They can sometimes only be seen under certain angles/lighting, so it still might have a chance at grading, but doubtful. Post a few more images with different lighting.

Now, I do not wish to alarm you but it would be nice to see the coin out of the holder with a blow-up of the arrows and "D" (reverse) and the back of the neck (obverse).

The size of the "D" and the diagonal lines in the recess above the arrow heads plus the reflection at the back of the neck are places one might better judge the authenticity of you coin. So far, it looks OK. Just curious...

    Coin looks legit to me.

I agree, so far. PLUS, much of the time with any DECEPTIVE fake, it is virtually impossible to authenticate a coin with a photo. As I said...Just curious to see close up out of the 2X@ to get rid of the reflection. Want to test myself :)

Would it be worthwhile to send this off to get graded? And, would they grade it if it was cleaned?

They would authenticate it, but not "grade" it. They would say something like "AU details, cleaned". Probably not worth the cost of grading. Can you post a few more pics?

It really is amazing how different pictures make a coin look completely different. All the debris was not as prominent in your pics, but yours make it look more cleaned. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Took it to a shop and was offered $150 for it.

$275 is reasonable. Shame on the shop that offered $150. I buy and sell these all the time, and would easily go $240-$250.

To be honest I think they thought, they could get one by on me as I brought in about 20 coins to sell. I chose not to give them any of my business. I will send over a few more pics later. Appreciate all the help!

Man, I would love to get these coins for $150. I feel bad for all the people out there who don't know better and get ripped off like that.

all the more reason, as I always say:

Take the darn coin outta the holder before you take pictures!

Repeat the above 1,000 times as punishment
