I sold her today. I am a little sad. Like I have said before, I buy what I like, put them up on ebay for a higher price, and enjoy them until someone offers a decent profit for one. I bought for about $300 (pretty good deal from what I've seen), and sold for $525. About $170 profit after all fees. Freed up a little money to start looking for more coins!

Sad! I've sold or traded a few coins, but each time I feel lousy afterwards. Hope you can find a replacement.

I really really want an owl in my collection, and this was a nice one. But my thought process was "Would I pay $470 for this coin?" (That's about how much I got after all fees). I turned a decent profit, and now have more money to look for my next coin. I actually bought 2 more ancients recently, and will probably do the same thing with those. I just sold a Alexander the Great drachm to the same buyer. Paid $160 for that one, sold it for $300. I think I can get a lot nicer one for that price

I have been told by more than one dealer that it is not possible to be both a dealer and a collector and do a good job at both. I know there are those who doubt this but what you have told us is that we should not buy coins from you because you charge too much for your coins. Another problem that arises to those playing both roles is how you handle confidential information you get from customers looking for a specific coin. If you are looking for an owl and know a customer is also, do you bid against that customer when the coin of both your dreams comes on the market? This is not a problem with something like owls that are available by the thousands but can get ugly if you collect rarities matching your customer's wants. I believe dealers who get the 'fun' of handling thousands of coins will do better in the long run if they do not collect.

oh well, jwitten => I'm glad that you made some quick coin-cash (maybe you'll score an even nicer owl the next time around?)

Lol, I let the buyer determine the price. I was told I got a really good deal on it... so maybe I am just a good buyer?
