The only thing I can add to the discussion here is that a PCI slab for the 1991 Ky State show is interesting because PCI was not AT the 1991 Ky State Show.

That is very, very interesting..... And confusing as it doesn't make sense
    So the plot thickens.....

They either had one of their "dealer" supporters bring them to the show (I doubt that) or what makes more sense - they planned to go and cancelled. I have several PCI Samples in storage. Have no idea what shows they were for.

You should send the slab in to be slabbed... just to make sure. ;)

Anyone know the year PCI switched to the Hallmark holder? I think Mike Storm bought the Hallmark operation from Bowers (?) and sold it to PCI. At the time the PCI slab was the large one licensed by Robert Paul??

Hope someone knows the answers as old TPGS history can be interesting.

Yeah ... we can get him to give up that unhealthy Morgan addiction and become "MonsterVam's Slab Slabbing Service" MVSSS...

What ever you do don't mess with his Miller. It's always 5 o'clock in his neck of the woods.

You are right that PCI bought all of the equipment and supplies from Hallmark - that was in 1991. PCI made a few photoslab samples earlier, but most of their samples are mint state wheat cents from 1991 - 1995, similar to the one in the original post.

And of course, the photoslabs all look like the one in this patent... https://www.google.com/patents/US4878579 - however if you start chasing the chains of patents references, plan on sitting down with a couple six-packs. There are some interesting stops along the way.

Reviving an old thread but here's another Kentucky Sample and a few others, some with even numbers.
