    Hello everyone,

I bought a collection a while back and just got around to getting rid of some of the coins.
These two Nazi coins were included, and as you can probably tell I know nothing about them. Could anyone tell me what they are, what they are worth, and if they are even legal to own... Thanks for any help.

They're 5 pfennig coins which were made of zinc because of the war. That's why they turn black. They're perfectly legal to own and also very common. They're basically common coins.

As mentioned earlier, these are very common but they are still neat pieces of history.

Why would you think they would be legal or illegal? Because it's and old Nazi piece of history?

Well yeah pretty much. a friend of mine said that in Germany (He's from there) it illegal to own Nazi artifacts unless it was for educational purposes. I didn't know if a similar thing applied here in the US.

    ok.. interesting.
ebay does not allow Nazi symbols on their site. I once listed a Nazi short sword and they pulled it off like in 2 days. Not that it's illegal but they deem it offensive.

eBay's paranoia about this stuff goes back to when Yahoo! auctions was sued 15 years ago. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_memorabilia#Legal_restrictions . Basically, coins, stamps, and period literature with Nazi symbols are okay. Anything else is probably going to get pulled. I'm not sure what they'd do about certain neo-Nazi silver rounds I've seen with Hitler and the swastika on them.

Ebay has always allowed coins, currency and stamps with swastikas to be sold.
