I have posted this website on here before, showing some fakes. It just scares me that someone could buy a bunch of these coins and sell them on Ebay to an unsuspecting buyer as real. These fake coins are coming from China, where it is not illegal to sell fake coins to my knowledge. It should be illegal to sell them here though. Every coin imaginable is sold here, some in bulk for super low prices. Fake Morgan dollars sell for only $.82! My favorite is the fake 1893s Morgan in the fake PCGS Slab for $80, it really scares me. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Morg...51&btsid=037bb803-0498-48b8-b327-9055c02846fb Here are some listing from here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1889...51&btsid=dc21997b-380a-46a4-b1fd-bc1c25853b87 http://www.aliexpress.com/item/FREE...1823359186.html?spm=2114.40010408.3.23.lubuFw http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1943...R/757051783.html?spm=2114.40010408.3.5.XZEFlR http://www.aliexpress.com/item/silv...51&btsid=037bb803-0498-48b8-b327-9055c02846fb http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...451318411_6451&btsid=037bb803-0498-48b8-b327- 9055c02846fb http://www.aliexpress.com/item/90-s...51&btsid=037bb803-0498-48b8-b327-9055c02846fb Look at all the listings for fake Morgan dollars, now I know where all the Ebay fakes are coming from! http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20160124151226&SearchText=morgan dollar
Who's gonna stop em from making them? From what I hear China only cares if their citizens counterfit their own currency and coins and the penalty can be death. Only thing that can be done on our end is investigations and litigation of sellers here that are selling or importing but it's such low priority to authorities here that not much will get done about it.
Near as I can figure no one really cares except you and I and everyone that posts a reply to this thread. Political rant
I bought some cheap ($0.99) toothpaste at Menards a couple of years ago. Thought it was really a buy until I noticed, after using one tube, that it was made in China. I thought, with the "anything goes" attitude there who knows what kind of chemicals could be in this stuff. Tossed the second tube. Steve
Not all Chinese are crooked. We have our fair share right here! Complaining here or SleazeBay will get you nowhere. You have to put pressure on government officials. Chris
Even worse http://ru.aliexpress.com/item/HOT-S...2343164706.html?spm=2114.10010208.0.62.xfXisD http://www.pcgs.com/cert/25589583 You really expect a coin that sold at an auction for $9000 to be on some shady website that sells everything from fake coins to sweaters and purses? Edit: I just saw in the listing you get two of them for $90, MS-62 and AU-58
I think if enough collectors got together the SS might spend more time on it. I think they care but don't have the power to do much.
My post was directed at mainland china not Americans. You are correct to note that all chinese are not crooked but I will continue to not trust imports from that continent.
First off the site serves to connect Chinese manufacturers to buyers around to world for millions of legal items. Second it's not illegal to make counterfeit US coins - without the COPY stamp - and sell them anywhere except the US. The law is broken when you import them into the US (or resell them afterwards). So why should the Chinese shut them down? People stab their spouses to death with steak knives - you don't want to stop manufacturing of them, do you? Yes, US ICE should be stopping this at the border, but do you want your taxes doubled to deploy enough agents to manually inspect EVERY single package and container? Do you want to live with the delay of days or weeks in getting your widget?
/1/ China is actually a country. A large one, but a country not a continent. /2/ Good luck. Are you going to give up your smart phone? Even if you buy a Korean manufactured Samsung or LG, half the low-value chips and components come from China. Same for your TV. You can't go back to plain old radio either.
There are some that are dirty over there but we have just as many here in the US. I deal with a lot of folks there that I trust. It's the ones that run the country that I don't trust.
Do you realize what that company is worth? There'll be no shutting it down over coins, which are an insignificant nothing in the over all scheme of things....
Thank you for that, but I meant exactly what I posted, china is part of the Asian continent and I choose to not purchase any consumable products from this region.
