My ban has been lifted, I've paid my debt to society and now I'm itching to start posting again! The big reveal will be given approximately beer:30 tommorow
Intriguing coin. I've always liked SLQs. I really wish you could take better pictures, because I think this one would benefit from good photography.... I don't think it has wear. There is weakness on her breast, shield, and knee, but I think that is strike, not wear. I'm going to guess 63. Better pictures may completely change my opinion.
Well, thanks for at least guessing this time, as we both know my photography skills are below average at best.. It seems, the smaller the coin, the harder it is for me to get decent photos.
Oh and BTW, since I haven't been on here in awhile (and I was sorely missed) here's a quick update: the New John Travolta movie that's coming out this year (I Am Wrath) was/is being filmed at my work place (how cool is that!!!) I work at a junk yard and we have an automobile shredder, in the movie, Travolta shreds some dudes car while the guy is still in it!!! We all got autographs and a lil extra on our check while the film crews were here and supposedly they are coming back in May to film a chase scene around the junkyard........ Life is good!
I'm at MS-64. But it's a handicapped grade because of the images. Not trying to diss you on the images, just saying it's hard to get a good feel for the coin.
I give it an MS64 but I do see wear. It's on her head of course and on her right arm below her shoulder, where the cape hangs over her arm. The wear shows on the second and third pic. jmo
I'm at 63. I could just as easily be at 58. I can't get a good feel if there's wear or strike weakness at the highest points. It looks like it's got good original skin tho
Wow, I'm going to diverge from the consensus here. I *think* I see a tiny bit of wear on the head and legs, so I'm going with AU-58. I also think it qualifies as a Full Head.
Either you see wear and don't understand its implications for grade (a coin with wear *cannot*, by definition, grade higher than 58), or you see something else and are calling it wear. Either way, your statement here makes no sense. Please refer to a grading book for a definition of the terms, and how to apply them (my book, linked in my signature below, may help).
I don't think this fellow is real familiar with this series, which is nothing to be ashamed of, I'm not either, in fact I believe this is one of the harder series to assign a grade to with all the strike issues and the busy obverse
Yes, these and Buffalo nickels are two of the hardest US series to grade, in my opinion. That doesn't explain his conflation of circulated and uncirculated, however.
I know, I was gonna call him out on the same thing but since it's my 1st day back from being banned and all Besides, I'm saving my energy for my arch nemesis (Books)
Boy hard to tell from those pics, it's certainly in the AU55 to MS64 range LOL... one poster mentioned FH, but sorry, I doubt this SLQ would qualify for FH at any of the top TPGs.
If I am mistaken about wear, then I believe you are correct. If that *IS* wear I see, then I stand by my statement.
Based on pics I'll say AU58 though if some of the flatness is due to the strike versus being a rub I'd bump that to 63.
