Good evening CoinTalkers! I have been working on getting my Fugio cent website, FugioCents.org, up and running over the past few months. My goal is to make this site a modern resource to collectors of the Fugio cent, or even a place for a casual researcher to find some information about the coin. I began this labor of love in frustration at the limited amount of information available online. I continue to frustrate myself... half the time I attempt to research for the website, my Google searches return my own site. One of the biggest projects I am undertaking as part of this site is to create a database of known graded Fugios to provide census data. I am inputting data from the various auction archives, which will also provide pricing data. The database breaks down the Fugios by many attributes, so once the data is compiled, it will offer a wealth of information. Why am I rambling to you on a Friday night? I'd like to invite the members of CT that own Fugio cents to add theirs to the registry. The website has a form to begin the process (click here), or you can PM me and I can get the information from you. My goal is not to assign ownership to the coins (there isn't even a place to put this information in the database). I am however interested in the TPG, Grade, Die Pair, and Pedigree, and notes, and any sale history you may have. Even if it's just when you bought the Fugio, it helps to establish a pricing history. At this time, for practical tracking purposes, only graded examples will be included. However, if you have had your Fugio graded and have sales history from prior to grading, I would be interested in this. I just need a certificate number to assign to the data that I input. Thanks so very much friends!
Had a bout of insomnia - the entire Great Collections auction history is now loaded. I was surprised to see on Fugio trade hands four times in about 8 months - two Heritage auctions, two Great Collections auctions. And it varied pretty significantly in price.
Usually when I see that, I assume it is a problem piece. You have dealers trying to unload it, or it isn't meeting its reserve. Nice site, by the way.
A little off topic but you will understand Chessie Steam Special Baltimore to Philadelphia May 14, 1977 I took this photo... Walnut Street Bridge Philadelphia, PA
Nice pics Dennis! I got stopped at Attica Junction between Willard and Columbus a few years back. It's an interlocking where we cross the NS and we control it, so it's very unusual to stop there. A few minutes later, one of our UPS trains pulled up next to me - nothing stops the mail, so now I was really confused. Next thing I know, the Nickel Plate Special crosses on the NS. We all kind of looked at each other with the same "did you see that?" look on our face. Not every day you see a steam engine chugging along on active main line tracks... I think this was the summer of 2012. [emoji2]
198 Fugios, 215 sales in the Registry. The Newman sale is included. EBay back to November 4 (as far back as I could go). Heritage back to mid-2015. Lots of amazing information in this endeavor...
