25-30 they recessed the date because it wore off too fast. These recessed dates hold up well down the grading scale.

I had to do some out of town work on Thursday so of course a hit up a few small town banks. Was very pleased to find a forty percent silver bicentennial half and then two more at a second bank.

The third bank had $240 in halves. I bought $100 thinking it was a dump. I was right...all the rolls were labeled by date and all clad. I went to work thinking the other 14 rolls were surely all the same. But it kept bugging me so after I was done I went back to the bank to get the other 14 rolls.

Pretty glad I did. I got a fourth 40% bicentennial, a few silver Kennedy halves and these:

19 walkers and my first two Barbers: a 1908-O and a 1915-D. I was just thinking I had found about 4000 silver coins without ever finding a barber half and now two in one day.

There was about ten ounces of silver altogether and a nearly complete set of bu clad kennedy halves and 8 proofs in the dump.

I got my first box of halves I ever ordered on Friday (I usually look for CWR) and had a good time. One ender was showing and I pulled these as well:

    20160115_162914.jpg

Four 64's and 18 forty percenters!

I ordered this box because earlier in the week a different bank told me they had a box that someone else had ordered but never picked up. They really wanted to get rid of it so I bought it and got 36 silvers including 3 Bens. If you are the one who ordered this box just let me know and I will send you one of the silvers....

...but you have to tell me the name of the town and bank!

Wow you guys are really having great luck with halves this year!

I went to my local grocery store the other day and found that a teller had saved a box of dollar rolls for me that a customer brought in. Every roll is from the Mint, unopened, uncirculated president coins. I couldn't believe it!

Well I'm broke broke broke this week, but of course I bought them. Was going to look through the box tomorrow. Here's a sneak peek.

Ron Henry, sorry your box was a dud.

    CT, you're luck is outrageous!

Chris, wouldn't those sell for more than face on eBay? Maybe you should sell them instead of open them?

    $80 CWR nickels:
    - 1943-P and a dateless buffalo
    - 1 from 1939
    - 8 from 1940s
    - 9 from the 1950s
    - 1 foreign

I know it's not technically coin hunting, but while I was picking up my nickels the head teller offered me this 1928 Series B FRN. I'm not really a currency guy, but it would have been rude to say no. Mr. Hamilton looks pretty good for someone who's been floating around out in the wild for almost 90 years.

    Hi berto,

Yes I'm sure they are worth more than $25 each unopened. I'll probably be offering up some of the rolls for sale, as there are a few tripples (my Dad will get first crack at the doubles). My local coin shop has been selling uncirculated dollar coins to me at $1.25 per coin. Book says they're worth more than that if they're perfect coins. But I probably won't be opening any of the rolls. I'm not a dealer and have yet to sell any coins.

    Well... we'll see.

    Latest two boxes...

Box of BWR Cents had just 11 wheatbacks. Two 1937s and a 1938 though. 28 Canadian cents in the box, the oldest being a 1944 King George.

Box of BWR Nickels had 10 from the 1940s, (2) 1939 and this dateless Buffalo. One of the 1940s was a 1945-P War nickel. Average condition coins, though one 1939 and a 1952-D had nice stairs.

I got $1000 in nickels from the credit union a few years ago. Took a cart to get them out (20000 coins). only got two 'V's, 21 War nicks and 13 Buffalos and it took forever to do..and nickels are filthy. thankfully the bank and self serve coin machines to return them, so that was easy, in the end, not worth the effort

I would LOVE to find a V nickel. I'd be ecstatic if I found two of them.

I found a 1912 V nickel at my old job but I can't remember if it came out of a roll or the register.

Awhile back I went to a nearby bank looking for halves, and one of the tellers took my name and phone number. He's actually called a few times - very friendly guy so I always go and buy what he has, even though it's mostly been banged-up 70s dates. Got a call yesterday so I went by today, and finally, my drought is over - a beautiful 1966 was one of two halves he had. Said the other teller had more, but it was his day off, so I'll be going back tomorrow, hoping they're from the same batch as these two.

Was dumping some change at my regular back later, and a 1928 wheatie turned up in the reject slot. Must've been stuck in the chute somewhere.
