    Yep - I expect them to lose again. Of course in this day and age they could probably go electronic with everything.

    Sigh. I'd say we have bigger problems in the World and our country than worrying about "In God We Trust" on our currency and coinage.

    Why don't we take that money and energy and figure out:
    1) How to fix inner city economic situations & schools
    2) How to bring manufacturing back to this country
    3) How to fix the ever increasing cost of healthcare
    4) And how to do it without going further into debt as a city, county, state and country

    Just to name a few...

    "A California attorney who unsuccessfully sued the government at least twice challenging the use of the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance has filed a federal lawsuit in Ohio challenging a similar phrase on U.S. currency and coins.

    Sacramento attorney Michael Newdow filed the lawsuit Monday in Akron. The lawsuit argues the phrase "In God We Trust" on U.S. money is unconstitutional and violates separation of church and state. The lawsuit wants the phrase prohibited from use on money.

    The lawsuit represents 41 plaintiffs from Ohio and Michigan, including many unnamed parents and children who are atheists or are being raised as atheists. Defendants include Congress and various federal agencies.

    A message seeking comment was left Wednesday at the office of U.S. attorney for Ohio's northern district."

    You are probably right about the $$$ thing. I was trying to make a point.

    So if you're against it, I'd like to hear it, because I'm neutral. I'm not offended either way whether this appears on my coin. I believe people have a right to worship as they like (peacefully) or not worship if that is their choice.

    IMO, there are much bigger things to worry about. Seems we all (not pointing this directly at you, but in general) wanted to be offended at something these days.

    I'm not sure "IN GOD WE TRUST" is purely Christian. I note for you the first paragraph and part of the second paragraph of our Declaration of Independence, in which God and a "Creator" is mentioned. It does not point to Christianity, but of some supreme being. I assume it's faith based.

    I'm largely neutral as well, but if it's so important to many people that they think people who don't agree should leave the country, then it's a problem and maybe its usage in government should go the way of the dodo.

    Hard to say what the majority of people think about it. My guess is that most people are completely unaware it even appears on our currency and coinage.

    My question is would they stop at having igwt no longer put on new currency or would they try and go further and have all current currency and coins that are already in circulation removed..i know it would be darn near impossible but hey I could see a lawsuit like that as well

    Yeah, and hopefully it'll happen. I'm trying to keep it numismatic but that's extremely difficult.

    Would a lawsuit to remove currency from circulation or make a coin or bill illegal to own because of what is printed on it, be a general discussion or numismatic related?
    I can see at some point, some uneducated individual, wanting Confederate currency removed from society. Would that be numismatic related?

    jpcienkus made a good point that most people don't know what is on our coinage. If you want proof of this, try this with a group of friends, colleagues or classmates, etc. Ask them to draw out the design of a Lincoln cent, doesn't matter if they want to use wheat, memorial or shield, and have them include all the mottos. Even though thousands of cents have passed through their hands most people will fail miserably at getting even close to an accurate reproduction of the design.

    You're obviously very familiar with how "bills", "riders", and Congress work lest we remind folks that a recent 3 billion dollar "transportation Bill" and part's dedicated to the amount of Silver which could be in the assay for Commemorative coins. (?)

    Ya wonder how anything gets done.................

    My opinion of the motto is on record, but I would not love that issue like I do if not for it. I have the feeling if I ever break down and specialize in one issue, that will be it.

    Personally I understand both sides of this debate . To draw a line in the sand is pointless as I can see a cashless society sometime before I check out. It's just about at that point now. If you want IGWT on your debt card or credit card so be it.
    Think about it..... I carry very little cash with me in my line of work. If they get my bank card or credit card for the most part I'm covered .
    Next walk into a convenience store at 4:30 am hand the person behind the counter a $2 bill for a $1.59 coffee.
    Then look at their face ....#1 Most have never seen a $2 note, #2 unless the register tells them your change is .41 cent they are clueless . This is after you have drank half a cup of coffee while explaining to them that the $2 note didn't come from your kids board game. #3 you finish drinking your coffee explaining what a board game is.....because unless you can down load it .....it doesn't exist in their world.
    Think about the money you do use . ..... nickels, dimes and quarters . If you need a cent just look on the ground they are all over the lot where you just purchased your coffee. You never see a fifty cent piece or a dollar coin.
    Besides the clerk you just gave the $2 spot to for the coffee don't know what they are either . ..... One morning I gave two golden dollars to a clerk and she said" we don't take gold here"......:wideyed:
    One last point as a collector I truly appreciate type and coins dated before 1964. Excuse me for the blasphemy but there's not much after 1964 worth collecting IMO.
    That said it really doesn't matter to me if IGWT is or isn't on our money,and I be willing to bet if placed in a collection plate or basket most churches wouldn't either.
    As what everyone is really concerned with is payment on demand.:greedy: After all the bottom line is what can this buy.,or
    What is it worth.
