didn't someone on here post a similar coin? a 98 Lincoln? that appeared to have a doubled date but had a different classification?

waste the $4 first sending it to Wexler. if HE says you have something....then go from there.

It would be a waste of 4 dollars and Wexlers time. Throw it in the trash so nobody else gets fooled by it.
Curious, where are you getting these fake rare varieties you've been posting and what are you paying for them?

would you throw a penny struck on a nickel planchet in the trash thinking it was fake? or waste $4 to find out if it's legit?

That's a quite a bit different scenario than what the OP posted. If I found a coin like the OP's ,yes I would throw it in the trash.

someone else posted a picture of a coin with a "ghostly" second image of date. they have it as their avatar. can't remember who....but I believe it was a legit error. IMO I would send it in. it's better to have tried and failed, then not tried and wondered. why would a cent struck on a nickel planchet be different?? people say it's impossible. not to mention when the 1943 copper penny came about you don't think everyone and their mother said it was a fake?

OK, lets put this one to bed. First, I have no doubts this coin is a fake. As I said in an earlier post, I have owned a real 69-s ddo, and this is not it. The coin in this post is 100 percent fake, not a issue of the united States mint. The bust of Lincoln is wrong as well as the mint mark. A real Lincoln cent even when heavily worn doesn't look anything like this. How many times have you seen a Lincoln memorial cent look like this? Never. It's not real, so save your money, it will come back in a flip from any TPG as fake, I will bet a billion dollars.

I don't have the answer to this but there was a post a while back about something called a false die. You could use one to create stuff like this.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing that it is or is not a DD. it may not be THE DD, but could be A DD. or...there could be some other reason that would cause there to be a secondary image other than DD. so I will ask the question...is there ANY other thing that could happen that would make a secondary image? ANY other explanation?

The entire "fabrique" looks off. The dark color and the area's that look buffed and hazy could be an attempt to hide the things we would look for to tell if it's genuine or been fabricated.
