I found this 1969 DDO.. Its the most severe DD I have seen yet looking online. Let me know what is up with it..
Interesting. Not yet sure what it is, but I know what it isn't - the "famous" 1969-S DDO which people would hand you blank checks for. That coin shows straight north-south doubling in LIBERTY, where the same feature on this coin is offset NW-SE. Have a read here: http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/1969SDoubledDieCent.htm
Yeah - it doesn't seem to be the "real deal" - maybe some kind of fake attempt? Can't deny it is doubled but the origin of the coin is "iffy"
Wow... three posts in on a 69-S thread and no one has posted anything schmuckish, insulting, or stupid? Good job, fellas... seriously. OP, I couldn't add anymore than has already been said, but could you, perhaps, post quality entire obv/rev photos?
Well I know where I will stop getting pennies from now. That's quite a few that I have found from one source. I wonder where they get them from.. Thanks a million guys. Oh Books the guys here are awesome
Got ya Superdave at first I didn't understand what you were meaning but now that I look at one online it clearly tells the tell.. So people really do nothing but mess these coins up..SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!
Perhaps I am confused, but did you purchase this as a variety? Also, there certainly are good guys here, yes, but if you check the link below, you'll see why I said what I did. Unfortunately, it happens all the time, so it's nice to see threads like this that break the pattern. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/is-it-a-69-ddo.273289/ My apologies for not being clear.
Oh you were clear. I have seen the "SCHMUCKISH" stuff people post. I have to say I have been lucky thus far. I posted better pics of my coin for ya
The bust of Lincoln looks off. I've owned the real deal, and can say for sure this one is not it. Also, pretty sure its a fake.
On the real deal, the doubling is not as extreme. Funny the mint mark they got in the correct place, but wrong shape.
I do believe that's the only possible answer that could reasonably explain all we're seeing. There's simply too much, aside from the "doubling", that appears to be wrong with/for the coin to be anything else from what I can see.
Yea I felt so too that's why I post here for the world panel of experts to look at it before I do something stupid like waste money on having it graded..LOL
you were the one who posted the 1992 close am cent that looked like the severe doubled die right? so how did that go was it a close am? or any doubling?
