I've had this since 2000 and kept it more as a curiosity than an investment, just wondering if this has any real value and if it would be worth sending to a 'slabbing' service. It's been in an airtite the whole time so it's condition is pretty nice. Also the reeding on the rim is pretty weak where the deformation occurs, if that matters. Thanks, eb
I would think that it is more off center than the mints tolerance, but I don't think that it is worth what it would cost you in fees to have it graded.
Nice find! In my opinion, the cost of having it graded would be more then the value of the coin. Check eBay to get an idea of what they are going for.
Clearly off center and a cool coin, but the real money starts when letters/devices begin falling off the edge.
Thanks for the info. Seeing how for $1 I got a Coke and the coin in change from a vending machine, I'll keep it as a nice oddity. btw, I was working at Littleton Coin Company at the time, and it came from the Coke machine in their break room.
I worked in their order taking department for about 6 months, it was all right, typical customer service gig.
I dont think it would be considered off center. Off center is when its missing some of the design elements. I think this would be called uncentered broadstrike. The rim is probably only reeded on the silver part whereas the copper part of the rim isnt. Show the rim if you can. I have a Nevada quarter exactly like this.
