Here's the double-struck Rabbel. There isn't anything special about this coin otherwise. It just didn't fully eject from the dies before the next coin was struck, so the king ends up photo-bombing the bust of his queen. Just a funny little error coin. What we don't have in his hair detail on the first strike is completed in the second.

The shame is that without the double, the clarity would be exceptional.

Two more of the Phasael birth commems. The first because it can legitimately be graded VF. With most Nabataean bronzes, the collector has to settle for a pleasing F. A super bust of the king on the first coin.

The second is a rare variety with the reverse devices flipped. I would guess that out of every ten of these types, you only find one with cornucopias to the left. I've seen a few in the past, but none that looked any good, and the sellers wanted moon money for them...

Yes, but with some patience coins of this emperor with good clarity are readily found. The error doesn't destroy a rare coin by any means. Here is a plate of his bronzes that I used in my ONS presentation, demonstrating the different engraving styles of his time...

Oh no! That could not get better by cleaning! Leave it alone!

Fair enough Warren. I'll leave it alone. I'm too lazy to clean coins anyway. :)

My thought as well. It looks just great the way it is.

@John Anthony , I love it when you post these Nabs. So much to learn about them.
