When you take the serial number off the slab and run the number on the PCGS site and it gives you the amount of coin worth.. Is that the actual prize of coin worth or is that dealaer price.. coin shown below..

It's just a rough guide. True auction results are your best bet.

I use CoinFacts, Heritage and ebay. PCGS can be very high or low. It's different depending what you are looking at.

And there can be a great deal of difference with the NGC price. Study those auction results!

Average market price but then that changes from market to market. i.e. The same coin in the same holder may not fetch the same price in Virginia as it would in New York or California.

It's the PCGS price. Have you ever seen anyone stick around very long on CU who complained about anything that PCGS does?

I always wonder what PCGS thinks, when their CUSTOMERS didn't like the grade they just received on the coin and now say their going to break out the coin and resend it in again .

I guess just more money for PCGS ....

Slack, one of the things that I have found effective is to take some notes, (even create a data base) of a particular coin date/mm and keep track of what they sell for. I searched for 6 months for a decent xf45 3 leg Buffalo that way, waited for the right auction and bid on the coin and won at .69% of the PCGS price guide.

It's not a panacea for all coins, but I have used it many times, especially on Walkers.

The listed prices are suggested retail prices for PCGS graded coins. They can be informative but are no substitute for practical knowledge of current market values.
