Looks like the Gov't is finally producing "shovel ready" jobs. They must have relocated the mint to a construction site. Dime/nails and now stones coming out of the mint. You tell me.....I don't know. I wonder if PCGS will give me points for toning.

    1988 mint set:

OK, that's new. Realistically, it'd probably being relative moon money on Ebay - how often do you see this? :)

Or, maybe someone brought their pet rock to work and it fell out of their pocket ...

Okay gents, So what should I (or what would you) do with it. Off load it and see what it brings or just keep it for a conversation piece? I wonder what other types of mint/proof set anomalies are out there. I would like to compare it to others........we can call it "The Weirdest Stuff Coming Out Of The U.S. Mint Collection". Who knows, maybe one day there will be a Nail (one of each denomination) Mint or Proof Set.

That's the rock that they throw at the coins they send me. Wondered why they got a bigger one.

Perverse little things like that really appeal to me. There's no way I'd ever sell it, and indeed I'd just about wear it out posting it regularly in "top this" threads. :)

Are you super attached to it or is it just a fun oddity? If you're not attached I'd say sell it and use the money for something you REALLY want.

Hey, that sounds like fun. Is there a "top this" thread out there? I looked and didn't see it. Thanks!

Send it in to PCGS. That rock has a good chance of getting at least MS63. You could do a predict-the-grade thing!

hahahaha now that one is a conversation piece! Do you think it was mashed during the minting process or afterwards?

No way Jose! Nice try. Your spider mite doesn't come close to topping my rock/pebble in a Mint or Proof set! "E" for effort though. As you read this, a spider, bug or mite is within 7 feet of you.....right now. Don't believe me? Look under your chair. Unless you're out in the backyard, you're not going to find a rock or pebble.....especially in the Mint.
