I really like the odd shaped tokens. If that was a Harley Davidson motorcycle company, I imagine it would be quite valuable.
"Is that Harley Davidson?" I don't think so since they have used the logo for ever. I'm sure that it would be center on a token, plus the fact they probably never had anything close to that price.
I think it would have brother if HD motorcycle token.? Two brothers started HD. I know that oil can logo of the early HD had brother on everything.
That's an interesting medal, Friar. Do you have any idea what the number on the reverse means? Membership number, maybe? Any info to share on the club itself? Bruce
Hi Bruce, I believe it was the price at one time and the owner marked it on the back. Normally an award number would have been engraved. The target is of ivory with silver bands indicating a target. I've had it for quite a few years. Thanks for asking Black Friar
D.W.E.E.B. Alert.... Yes, I still have my old S.H.I.E.L.D comics from the late 60's and I watched the first season of the show.... so when I saw this online I had to get it... It's really cool and about the size of a half dollar but once I got it, I realized it's probably not an authentic officially licensed product from Marvel because if you look closely, two of the words are spelled wrong... d'oh!!! How funny is that??? Maybe it's some super-secret Code!!!
I picked this up at the FUN Convention a few days ago. It is a repousse coin, or some prefer to say pop out coin. They began to appear in the very early 1900's and were considered works of art. There are several government patents covering the dies and procedures used to make them.
Who's face is on this piece ? I had one years ago a Barber if I remember Correctly , it was toned a steel blue , and the face was that of the coin. Very neat piece.... and I seldom see many at shows these days.
Never read the comics but I like the show! That medal is a lot like a challenge coin and many of those are manufactured in South Korea and other parts of Asia. English likely wasn't the die engraver's first language.
I thought it might be Ben.... but Tom could be a candidate also. And yes it was a Liberty head on mine also very blued like gun medal.
