This is an interesting coin with the first 2 letters of LIBERTY nearly missing, probably from grease filled dies.

Take a look at the raised metal in the field across from Lincoln's nose, near the rim.

Not sure what is going on here. That's not a place where you'd expect a die to chip, and I don't see any evidence of clashing.

Alan, I'm wondering if someone didn't solder or weld something to the coin. Note the discoloration around it and in the same position on the reverse. It could be heat damage. I'm leaning toward PMD.

I'm left with the impression of a second Cent being part of a short circuit while touching the first.

Does the arc on the piece look different from the arc on a cent? ZZZZZZZZZZZZT!

I'll try to get some better pics of the area around the raised "chunk"

Maby its debree that was on the die or the planchet when the coin was being minted. The raised lup of metals almost looks like a rck embedded into a plate of copper

Not enough detail to be sure, but that radius on the feature sure looks like a rim radius. If my theory is true, though, it's probably as much accident as anything else as the arc would have melted the metal.
