For my birthday today my wife bought me this lovely print of different U.S. and world coins. I believe they are pencil drawings based on coins. I posted a link to the artist's site a few months ago. We saw him at a local art show and couldn't believe our luck since it was the perfect gift for me. She bought this months ago but I finally got it today. Best picture I could get since it isn't framed yet.
It reminds me of stuff I used to do when I was younger. I used to draw baseball cards. Then when I was attending the Art Institute of Seattle, I had an assignment to draw something using a technical pen. I drew a $10,000.00 bill. I have it around somewhere. Your post has inspired me to want to take that up again. We'll see.
Thanks. I think it's pretty cool. We don't have a place for it now but when we get a house I'm hoping to find a nice spot in the office or an area like that.
Happy Birthday. Very cool gift. Your challenge is to buy one of every coin in the picture! Chop, chop....
Since it only shows one side you can't say for sure what some of them are, but I may have nine of them.
Yes, it is a French medal celebrating 100 years of the Bank of France. The female wearing the helmet represents "Marianne", the symbol of France. French medallists of the period loved to "dress her up" in all sorts of fancy helmets, and some of my French medals have a rooster as part of the helmet. Chris
