I currently put my coins in black ring air-tites, but they turn when they're in the archival pages. So, I'm looking to start housing my coins in square 2x2 coin capsules instead and see how they go. Is there a brand that you all recommend? I see square capsules for Guardhouse, BCW, and Quadrum. From my experience with archival pages, BCW does a lackluster job, and I'm not too sure that they'll produce quality capsules. My other question is how well they'll seal the coins in place compared to air-tites. If they're similar or if air-tites are only slightly better, I wouldn't mind. And, I know that there are direct fit versions of the square holders, but I like the rings not only for the color contrast but I don't like the idea of nicking my coins on plastic when placing them in the holder. And if there are issues with fitting various coin sizes, as the sizes seem to be limited to US coins, I figure that I can get any Air-tite insert ring that matches the inner diameters of the square capsules, and I'd be able to fit just about any coins in perfectly (e.g. American Silver Eagle square capsule with a 40mm outer diameter Air-tite black ring and a 38mm inner ring diameter for a random 38mm diameter coin). Thanks in advance!
I am using Quadrum and can only recommend them. They come in many sizes (14mm to 41mm) and the black inserts are NOT limited to the sizes (diameter) of US coins: http://www.lighthouse.us/epages/lig...s/leuchtturm_us/Categories/US/US_2281/US_2396
Yeah I saw those, I prefer the archival pages that I already have. They're also selling the Guardhouse 2x2 holders. Not sure why they don't make they're own, unless Guardhouse is owned by Air-tite.
There are the regular Lighthouse/Leuchtturm "Quadrum" holders and the "Quadrum Intercept" holders, which are slightly more expensive and are designed to protect coins even better/longer. Look at their web site for more details.
Alternatively, maybe I could stick with Air-tites and put these black "cards" over them. If Air-tites are superior with holding the coins in, and since I have many of my coins in them already, I could just add these to the Air-tites. I can write on the cards too if I wanted. I don't mind either option as far as display / presentation, but I want to commit to one and stick with it without looking back. Any thoughts on this idea? It would resolve the issue of the capsules turning in the album pages.
Check out CAPS albums too and see if you like those. They look great and it's the ultimate protection album but it's large in size compared to slide albums and relatively more expensive http://www.capsalbum.com/
