You're certainly right in that it often does, but it isn't a necessary part of "discussion", and isn't what we've seen here. Again, if one was to start an unflattering thread intended for those who share the same opinion, could we reasonably expect that fans wouldn't participate or make their views heard? Differing views can be a perfectly acceptable part of a discussion, and shouldn't be viewed as a problem unless it's more about flinging mud than simply expressing one's opinion.
He's using his talent to the fullest. His talent is using modern technology to copy designs of real artists. Did you actually expect to open this thread and see an original design of his? Never gonna happen. Nobody cares for them.
That's perfectly reasonable and I misunderstood the meaning behind the earlier-quoted post. You're probably in the minority then.
If you and others continue to post about them, then we have the right to express our opinion. If you don't like it, then go ahead an start your own forum and bar us from it. Chris
So, we should be allowed to vote for whomever we want as long as we don't do it at your polling place. That sounds like a dictatorship to me. Chris
I'd say you did fairly well. The Peace Dollar I have seen go for as low as 150 (must have been few eyes looking at the time) all the way up to 414 (ebay BIN). The Roosevelt dime has not had any sales, like you mentioned, so it's tough to call (but I would guess you could get 150 for it...maybe more depending on who is looking on ebay).
C'mon Rick I didn't belittle anyone , in fact this is the 1st Carr Thread that I even said anything in awhile . Plus I asked a simple question which I thought was our right in the ole USA . Everyone should lighten up a little . Also my reason for jumping in is that I believe these will cause problems 50 to 100 years down the line .
There are many in this hobby that feel these will be a problem in the future. I feel they are already a problem. It's not right to copy the US mints work and just change the date. Calling it a token is not enough. In my opinion it's the same thing China is doing to our hobby. When I can't post my opinion on a topic here, it will be time to leave this forum.
Same argument every time somebody posts Daniel Carr's work. I will reiterate my usual response-- don't like his stuff-- don't buy it.
The only thing I hate about these is that you have to get them directly from DC, because they get really expensive on the secondary market. I'd go for a "DC" mint mark. Every one of these threads that's gone longer than a couple pages has turned into mud flinging, with nobody's opinions changed.
For a minute there I was misinterpreting your response Dave........didn't think it was the same Dave.........then I re-read.
Yeah-- the Carr haters go nuts. Why bother expending that amount of energy if they don't like something? I do like his stuff, so I buy it. They don't like it, so why gripe all the time?
I've only one DC original. A tribute to a fallen member on another forum. His name was Gary and the design and display of the medal/token is truly exquisite.
Because some want to gripe about things they feel are wrong. Wrong is the key word. It's not about just not liking something.
