1984 quarter extra leaf?

    It looks like those are reed marks from another coin.

    How's that happen above the er in the word quarter?

    Reed marks happen when the reeded edge of another coin contacts the surface of a coin. I don't see anything that looks like an extra leaf anywhere.

    I circled where I'm seeing this. I could just be wrong (probably am). But these marks aren't on other quarters.

    I see where you're talking about, but I think that Chris is probably right. It looks like the reeded edge of another quarter banged into this one there.

    Yes, the area you circled definitely appears to be reed marks (a form of post mint damage). These are considered part of normal wear, and will lower the grade some.
