One of my favorite era is the Art Deco age. This is an era starting in Europe Paris France, prior to WWI 1908 to the late 1930's. And some trickle into the early 1940's. The movement moved from Europe after WW l to the United States. The entire time period up to WWII influenced art, and design. The influences from many different styles and, movements of the early 20th century . They include Neoclassical , Constructivism, Cubism,Modernivsm, and Futurism.
This art form touched just about everything The hotel's in Miami ' s South Beach, the Chrysler building in NYC. Many forms and media in art works.
This was a time period that man was very creative between two world wars. He was reaching for the stars, reaching for the future.

This thread is to show your Art Deco coins, Medals, and other related items in numismatics ,that transpired from this era.
and if you don't have any items maybe note on a favorite designer or artist from this era.

Erte is one of my favorite .

I consider Pierre Turin the "father" of the Art Deco movement in the medallic and coinage arts.

someday in the middle of 2016 probably June I will buy a medal by Dammann...I think it's called electricity something. it is art deco. France, issued in 1932 for the 25 Years anniversary 1907-1932 of the "Compagnie Parisienne de Distribution d'Électricité ", art medal in bronze, by Paul-Marcel Dammann Ebay link: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/1932-FRANCE-ART-DECO-BRONZE-MEDAL-by-P-Marcel-DAMMANN-/231405758427

I have wanted this medal for years now. its price ranges from $150-200 depending on condition. other coins have been coming before this wanted medal.

Let me see if I can locate my Bridgeport Commem. Otherwise I'll have to re-shoot it. Probably not a bad idea. Brandon, that French piece is a real beauty. :)

The original Jefferson Nickel winning design certainly had an "Art Deco" flare to the reverse and in the font used on obverse and reverse. The Jeff Nickel as actually struck and released, not so much.

More successful with Connecticut. I ain't gonna go lookin' through memory sticks for an old photo. Probably time for a new upgraded Bridgeport anyway.

Can you imagine if they had stuck to this original design .
Maybe even more varieties for this series . Not to mention no worries about the full steps.

I always thought the 1935 British Crown met the Art Deco requirements.

I'm still waiting for a blazing Peace dollar and a Mercury dime. Maybe a high grade key? :)

I believe this Kruger-Gray reverse acorn design from 1927 would fit the bill for Art Deco inspired...
