and another win for me! I picked this up for $1 under melt. It was listed in the aussie coins section, love when people put coins in the wrong area! Worn condition, pretty sure its cleaned as well, hairlined to death, but hey! cheap silver is cheap silver.
Here is a new one I got a little while ago. Bengal presidency gold Mohur. I bought it for close to melt assuming it was a copy.
Not sure. A genuine one should be .917 I think. I'm debating melting COPY into it if it is indeed a copy
Yep it's a copy. Proof-like looking examples like this are. Originals would not be reflective, unless you have a rare proof, which looks quite different. One thing to note also is the dentils - the planchet goes past the ends of some, around 9 o'clock in both pictures. You wouldn't see that on originals either. Still a nice pickup for melt $
picked this up at a coin show for a buck 50, an ottoman silver 1 kurush. small coin, about 14 mm. the date is about 1852 (uses a regnal year of the sultan system, so not quite the same).
Just got this 3 days ago. I'd love to show it to members of the Brazilian Numismatic Society but I'm afraid it might not last that long (currently in another country). I always get one of these, made to resemble a coin I got during the year, for my birthday. As you can tell this is a Brazilian 960 reis. For a numismatic trivia question: can you guess the (Exact) date?
happy birthday! is that carrot cake??! mmmmmmmmmm........cake. mmmmmmmmmmmm....coins. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....coin cake.
