I want to grade several Morgan dollars, I am short on money because I bought 40 or so Morgan and peace dollars in high AU or Mid MS. Which company is trust able and cheap, Thanks!
With all due respect, if all are common dates, and assuming your grade ranges are accurate, there's no reason to have them graded/certified. Not all coins "need" or deserve to be submitted; unless there's an upside to doing so, it's a good way to bury yourself.
Right now ANACS is running a special insider promotion. Seven coins graded for $75 and that's with free shipping back to you. Also they can identify any Vams you have.
If you want cheap, you get what you pay for! Although ANACS is the only one of the top three grading services that will attribute all VAMS, you will find that most of their slabs sell for less on the open market. I noticed that you are 14 years of age. May I ask how long you have been collecting? Are you proficient at grading Morgan and Peace dollars, or are you submitting those coins just because they look to be the best of the 40 or so that you purchased? Is it possible that the coins you want to submit are common dates not worth the cost of grading? I'm asking these questions because I don't understand why someone who just paid a substantial sum for 40 or so Morgan and Peace dollars wants suggestions for having them graded as cheaply as possible. It makes me think that you have a lot more to learn. Chris
Nice eye, I have been collecting for 5 years now and the only reason I bought all those coins is because they were low mintage dates. All of them are killer deals and I am going to sell them to buy some nice walkers mainly because they are easy to sell them graded and you get a premium. I also collect silver dollars and I am quite good at grading. P.S all of the low mintage dates came around 25 dollars a piece!
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I started collecting Morgan dollars in 1957. Personally, I would rather see photos of the coins you want to submit before making a recommendation. Chris
So far it seems like I'm going to go with ANACS I was looking into it before posting this thread. So far thanks for the replies!
I have 3 or so pictures on my phone, but all of them are relatively the same grade, dates and coloring.
I agree that it would definitely be a good idea to post pictures of some of the ones you're considering sending in. Others may be able to notice things that might make it not worthwhile to send a certain coin in for grading (i.e.- a cleaning).
You guys are lucky. I found only 2 pics, unfortunately they are only front facing. Oh and by the way let me know how the pictures look I just got a new camera setup! Its cool how the camera works but I learned it works better when you screenshot the picture from the gallery compared to downloading it to my laptop. The bottom one I WILL send in because the date, but the rest are a little better than the top one even with some gold coloring forming.
Don't assume grading automatically equals a premium; it's not the holder that dictates this, but the coin inside. Easy money from coins may sound like a cake job, but in practice, it's not always so simple, and first-time submitters often experience disappointment when learning of the results. It appears as though you're set on your plan, yet there's no harm in allowing the board to pre-screen, so please do post photos before spending more money. Hopefully all works out as planned. Do understand though that approaching this wisely can increase the chances that you'll come out on top.
