Hi TJ It's quite common. Not a new term. Can we see the coin? Edit - oh I see the mistake now... funny!
Hi Paddy- It's not my coin. It's on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1996-Silver-Eagle-1-NGC-Obverse-Struck-Thru-Mint-Error-MS-66-/181965026983 So THRUCK is "not" a new term.
No.. here is what the seller states - Quote "ALSO NOTICE not only does the coin have errors but NGC's label has an error as well, they actually misspelled "Struck Thru" "Thruck Thru" instead haha!" unqote
Yes, that's crazy! That slab might be very desirable for a real "error" collector. Question: Didn't I see you mention on another thread somewhere that you liked ANACS for error coins?
Yes, I was just thinking you guys might want that one. "1996 Silver Eagle $1, NGC Obverse Struck Thru Mint Error MS-66"
I was curious what the NGC verification tool would say and they made the same mistake on their site (I want to share this image with you from the NGC website)
For SOME errors I like to submit to ANACS. For example, NGC did not label a die clash error on a coin of mine, but ANACS did, so I send those to anacs.
Aside from the thruck, they always use thru when it should be through. Do they do that to save space on the label?
