I started with a Booker T.Washington commen.But sold it then a friend sent me a MS69 one as he remembered the coin i had to sell...BUT here is one you may( 8 over 7 ) like! HAPPY HUNTING ALL!!!

nope unfortunately some humans love to stir problems and cant live without turmoil. then after they do it they say oh I expressed my opinion. but when you respond with your opinion of why they are offended. one way thin skin I believe.

5 cent pieces and cents......

 

this is the coin that got me started from USA to world coins. I bought a huge lot of silver world coins as melt when silver was very low. this was in the group. 1902/801 Honduras 25C It also had the silver purity re-punched on the coin.

 

I don't actually remember my first coin, because I got hooked by an old Redbook in my elementary school library. From there, I started filling Whitman folders with Lincoln Memorial cents and Jefferson nickels from circulation. I found a nice 1968S nickel I was convinced was a circulated proof (but, in retrospect, probably not).

My favorite coin from childhood days though has to be an 1863 Indian cent I dug up at my grandma's house. It was in roughly G4, but I loved that coin because of the history involved.

I stopped collecting for a while, started up again, sold everything, and have recently started up again. My latest "first" coin is a raw Bay Bridge half, MS64-ish, which I love for the design and the history involved. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it. (One of my collecting goals for the new year is to get my coins professionally imaged.)

And, I suppose I can talk about my first ancient coin, a rather common DIVA FAVSTINA denarius that spoke to me. Here's a seller's pic of her:

 

that's a very very nice piece. I only have a few common ancients I bought from a un-cleaned lot last year. Valens I believe most were. definitely not the quality of yours.

Well, I used to collect US coins for the longest time...but not anymore. The coin below, while not my first ancient coin, was definitely the one that convinced me to abandon US coins altogether and exclusively focus on ancients.

To set the record straight a little, I never mentioned that the coin I posted was my first world coin. I have owned many world coins. It was the first world coin I bought with the intent to focus on Silver Crowns of the world.

My first coin that actually brought me into collecting was a silver rosie dime. I received a 1964 dime in change and thought it was a bit different. A bunch of research later....well, it has changed a lot.

 

As a little kid I got started like some of the others on here with the old blue Whitman penny and Buffalo nickel folders, as I got a little older I went to the silver dimes and quarters.

Then I quit for many years and just a few years ago I started doing my Sicilian family genealogy and for the Hell of it I bought a 1855 Sicilian 120 Grana silver crown on Ebay (big mistake).

That one coin re-ignited my coin collecting addiction. I'm now 90% into Sicilian and pre-1920 Italian coins and my collection has grown like a mushroom.

 

My grandfather got me started when I was 6 or7. He gave me a partially filled Whitman Lincoln Cent folder. I still have some of them today.

 

In all of my years on this site, I have never seen a post as nasty, rude, mean and insulting as what you posted. I can't believe anyone would even say something like that. There are rules about that type of post.
Great example for the kids to be posted at Christmas. It's clear that you do not care how hurtful your words can be to others but you should. I know that my words mean nothing to you and that's fine. There, I cleared the air.
