Only teasing, I'm very new here. Nevertheless, while waiting around for a thread to "stir-up" w/MHO (learned that one here as I'm completely computer illiterate) I had the idea of "grading" the posters! I figured out in very little time that some members NOT ONLY know what they are talking about and can accurately state it in simple fashion BUT ALSO DUE TO THAT receive a lot of likes.
So, while killing time, and I'm not singling out any member in particular and DO NOT wish to disparage any member, I did some calculations that members can do:

For example: I have given "likes" before to several members. Two of them are near the top of the list of members in the tool bar. Here is what I did. I divided green18's likes by the# of posts and came out with a grade of 22%. Next I tried cpb9ball. He gets 28%. I'm a looser at only 13% :( I'm going to try raising my grade for sure.

This is totally unscientific but I can see a trend. I wonder who beats 28%. Perhaps a new poster: 1 post w/1 like gets 100% :)

I would think that a better measure would be the holder of the most Best Answers. Unfortunately, not many posters even think to pick on Best Answer (myself included).

    Perhaps it's time we did . . .

Wow! stevex6 and John Anthony will never be surpassed. I need to discover what/where they are posting.

I've got a pretty good "grade" by that measure. Most of my likes come from posting pictures in the new acquisitions threads, I think. In any case, posting a good picture of a coin will always net at least a few likes on here.

I'm heading to the bank so I can post a bunch of photo's. Each time I write something like this my % goes down :)

I don't think this is a very good method of determining much of anything except who has the best likes to comments ratios. Probably half of my likes come from photos I post. That does not, in any way, validate my knowledge as a coin collector. In fact, I'd say I'm rather an amateur compared to just about everyone on this forum. Lucky for me, I can learn a lot by just reading posts.

I haven't been here long but I have realized that playing Cointalk Scrabble hurts your ratio. :)

You might also consider that some people post compliments, which to me is the same thing as a "Like". Sometimes, I post both. Other times, I post a compliment when I could have just as easily posted a "Like", but I wanted to specify my reason for doing so.

Now you know why TPGs must pretend to be God-Men; because coins have personalities too and they can't be quantified.

I have 38%. I doubt you'll find even one (sober) person in here who believes I'm more cordial than Green18. Most would probably say I have the "people skills" of a scorpion. And sorry, but I like the nature of scorpions.

I suspect you choose green18 and cpm9ball simply because you like them. That, IMO, is a good method and it also works for coins.

I'm not sure that is the best method, there are more than a few here that have more likes than posts, but that may not be a good measure of quality. You also have to realize that many of us who have been around for a few years lost most of our like count when the new software was installed. I think that I lost like 1500 or so, but the site is way nicer now, so it was a good trade. To show you how unscientific your method is, I'm only at 55% and I'm the coolest one here by far....;)

I think you need to collect ancient coins to get more likes, everyone who does usually has around 100% or more likes compared to posts, i'm at 440%

...you should have said "people skills of a buffalo" which would have been more appropriate on a coin forum :)

This wouldn't be an accurate measure, either. How many times could the same reply be awarded a "Best Answer" on different threads.

For example: I received a "Best Answer" for my explanation of a VAM, but I've repeated this explanation numerous times in other threads. Theoretically, I could have received a "Best Answer" for each and every response, but that wouldn't be right.
