I came across this coin and I googled it and found only two listed. The two listed are not graded and appear in worse condition. This is my coin image.png image.jpeg image.jpeg

Can't tell you what it's worth but I can say it's cool.

Cool die clash! I don't think I've seen die clashes that pronounced on such a new coin. Not sure on value though.

So cool! Make it 3 listed by sending your coin to grade! It will be worth it.

Pretty cool coin, but die clashes are not that uncommon.

Thanks everybody. I've been trying to find answers on this and I appreciate all of the input. I just wanted to make sure spending the money on getting it graded is the right decision. I will keep you all posted when I have it back and get it appraised. It's amazing how hard it is to find information and value on this particular dime. I looked in the red book, everywhere I could find online and other than two dimes for sale no other frame of reference.

His third. I think you want someone to attach a value to it, but there is no listing for value on error coins. It is simply an agreement on price between the buyer and seller. It therefor becomes a timing thing based on who is in the market for a coin like yours. I'm not an error collector, so I would not be interested at a fourth of the prices you mention. Someone else might be. You would be better to look at auction prices of items sold, but from a reputable house like Heritage Gallery.

I wouldn't pay $50 for an '85-P dime with a dime clash , but that's me . I have no idea what it's worth . Good luck on selling it .

I have a dime very similar to that one. I found it in change. I think it's really cool so kept it. I have no idea of value, but wouldn't be surprised if it only went for a dollar plus shipping, though it's not for sale. The problem with value is supply and demand. If there were a huge demand, it would no doubt bring a higher price, but with that would bring all the others like mine and your's out into the market, which in turn would keep the price low. In all reality who knows how many there are out there. $400-$600 for a circulated modern coin, I believe is getting into "crazy money". I have to ask, do you have a reference for that evaluation?

$400-$600 is wholly ridiculous. Just because some schmo on ebay is a fishing, it in no way means the coin is worth anywhere near his ask price. I saw the $399 listing, and that's exactly what he's doing.

This coin does not need to be certified imo. Unless you're going to try as the above mentioned, any halfway knowledgeable interested parties are going to know what the coin is simply by looking at it. It's certainly a nice example, but simply not that valuable. If your plan was to submit just the one coin, by the time all is said and done, even if taking the cheapest routes, you'd likely, and unnecessarily, short or even bury yourself. Considering what it cost you to acquire the coin, you're better off selling as is.

no big deal, just an early die state clash.

Nope, not worth anywhere near the asking price

Folks don't pay much for clashed die coins. Some collect them and others don't care for them. You might get $20 for it on ebay. Having it graded will cost you more than that. Still a nice find but not much value.

I bought a nearly identical coin dated 1988-P for $23 and sold it for $40 back in 2012. Not only was it struck with clashed dies, but the dies clashed twice, rotating a few degrees between the clashing strikes.

Well..........at PCGS, it'll cost you $60 plus a $10 handling fee, plus $19.95 return mailing fee's plus your cost to send it to them.

While it's a fairly cool clash, I seriously doubt that it would have a value exceeding $50. But that's just my opinion.

I can say for sure that it isn't worth $400-$600.

    Again, my opinion.

Not to mention the fact that error coins, just like regular coins, bring higher premiums with higher grades.

For example, a 4% clipped IKE in AU58 would bring far less than a 4% Clipped IKE in MS64 or MS66.

The OP's coin definitely looks circulated so finding a buyer that is willing to cough up enough money to cover the grading costs will be next to impossible.

Personally, I wouldn't have it graded.

I'm not even sure PCGS will note the clash on the label. Will they do that if you send it in and pay the fee for an error coin?

Thank you all. The eBay listing was my reference as well as a different one I found online. These are the two I found. I will most likely keep it if it's worth less than $100. image.png image.png

I've had them graded but it was submitted as a Bugs Bunny before they started accepting all the Bugs Bunny die clashes as FS-401's:
