Please place these 7 coins in chronological order from oldest to newest. I will reveal the correct sequence tomorrow evening. No cheating!!!
That would have been a really bad idea. I don't recognize a few of those. If you are going to copy on a test involving coins like #6 I am not the right one to pick out.
I just saw this thread, and this is exactly what my guess was before I saw Doug's answer. I would have guessed #4 and 6 would be the two to trip some people up.
2, 1, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7 is there extra credit for having two dates for #6 and the counter stamps on #6? I would place the counter stamps just before 7
Ha there is only one date for #6, it is not counterstamped but rather punchmarked at the time of manufacture. There should be extra points for thinking outside the box.
And those are good guesses. Here is a hint. # 4, #6 and #7 are there to make everyones lives difficult.
I really thought this quiz would have attracted more attention. The biggest complaint about my last one, was no one was familiar with the "eastern coins" but everyone was familiar with Romans and Greeks this one is mostly Romans and Greeks, where are the participants?? Feedback on the quiz would be awesome. Especially from the top dogs here. @TIF @stevex6 @Bing @4to2centBC @seth77
2413657 That is my 60 second effort. Been busy watching auctions......oh yes, and holiday stuff.....like watching auctions.
Sorry Noob, office holiday party stuff and family holiday preparations have me swamped. As for the quiz content, I didn't attempt an answer because I don't pay close attention to Eastern empire coins and Romans later than Elagabalus. I'm sure well-rounded collectors will enjoy it though .
There is no scholarly reason... I simply lose interest in the coins that follow, both the people and the artistry/content (Provincials are an exception). There are plenty of great coins to keep me busy without going past that point, although I do sometimes buy later coins. I just don't do much reading about that later period. Someday I will.

Soory Anoob. Just got in from a day at my Aunt's funeral and I'm still trying to sort out my best friend's wishes. It's a mess.
