Lovely coin books?!! ... gawd, maybe I didn't send enough stuff to my Santee? (I merely sent a smelly ol' coin)
Ok, first of all, I honestly did not mean to have this opened before Christmas, but I do have other people working at the office who open the mail for me. Although the instructions are not to open any personal mail (ie. mail coming from a non-client and non-official addressee) sometimes it is hard to determine what is what and things will get opened by my assistant/paralegal. I was expecting a tablet I ordered for the office from Amazon, so the package got mistaken for that and opened when I wasn't in the office. I don't know who sent this as I cannot yet associate real names to forum handle names for everyone here, but whomever it was, thank you. You gave me the best gift someone new to the hobby could get...the gift of knowledge. First up: 100 Greatest Ancient Coins. I drooled over the pictures in the book all afternoon. Can't wait to read it Second up: Handbook of Ancient Greek & Roman Coins. Browsed through it. Looks like a basic guide to help someone like me get more immersed into ancient Roman and Greek coinage. It will be very useful for me in the future. And last, it's not an ancient coin, but its the icing on top of the cake. Silver is always welcomed! I am very familiar with Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands as an immportant symbol against the barbarism of Nazism, so I'm glad to have a coin of hers.
very nice! a coin buddy gave me berks book this year, it's a fun read. the only one i own is number 98.
Wow is right...You must have been ESPECIALLY nice for "Secret Santa' to have been so good to you. Hmmm, Perhaps Santa is moonlighting as a Lawyer???
Io, Saturnalia, people! I know of you will be waiting for X'mas day to open your gifts, but my package came with instructions to do right by Saturn on December 17th, so I tore into it today to dutifully enjoy the excellent present within and share a picture of it . KUSHANO-SASANIANS Ardashir (II), circa AD 230-250 AE Unit 2.98g, 18.7mm Merv mint Mitchiner 1264 O: Crowned, draped bust right. R: Anahit seated facing under domed canopy, holding wreath and scepter. My collection covers the East terribly, so this is pretty perfect... thanks, Secret Santa, for the thoughtful and generous gift! I know who they are but am keeping mum as I don't know if we'll be playing any guessing games later. So, who else is opening presents today?
Mine a no show yet, but we have a lot of time left!,i did get my package from the modern SS waiting, waiting, waiting.
I got mine on the "regular" Secret Santa and look forward to seeing what Ancients people got while I quietly whimper.
My secret Santa gift arrived on Tuesday (and I already opened it!!) ... but I haven't taken any stevex6 photos of the awesome haul, yet (I will try to get on it tonight, and/or on the weekend) Oh, and my Santa knows me inside-out (great stuff ... I already guessed who he was and thanked him in "private conversation" ... and we talked about a few of you dudes and how you should be getting coal this time around!!) ... jokes ... But yah, I'll try to gather my feces into a neat pile and shoot some photos, quick-like-a-bunny!!
... I promise I'll be back in a sec to update these sweet photos (I love my presents and the S-Santa)
