This sure looks like offshore marketing of fake US coinage through eBay . . .

These obviously counterfeit coins, listed for at least the second time in the past few weeks, appear to be offered by a seller in Florida.

What I find more interesting is the fact that the coins will be shipped from outside the US. My guess is that they will originate in China. Is this an attempt to lure in those buyers who rely only upon the location of the seller to determine whether they are likely to be real or not? Probably.

I have reported these 2 items via the eBay-provided link, to no avail thus far . . .

Speaking for more than just myself, I also spoke with eBay over the phone, letting them know that the coin collecting community at large feels that eBay is unacceptably facilitating the expansion of the counterfeit marketplace.

Would any other CT members be interested in increasing the number of reports to eBay to get their attention?

How do we even report things on eBay now? They don't make it easy. I wish I could report counterfeits on the app.

At least that counterfeiter has no idea what they are doing.

I noticed the 23 day shipping.

Also, look out for counterfeit CWT store cards being sold on EBay from Greece and Romania.

Just report them to the Secret Service. They are very interested in counterfeiting and companies that support it.

Not sure about the app, but on the desktop version of the site, scroll down a bit and on the right-hand side, there should be a small link that reads "Report item".

Reported the first auction. Will do the same with any others posted here.

I wonder if a sudden flurry of messages to the seller saying that we are forwarding their information to the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI, and Homeland Security would make them pull their auctions...

I know they'll never actually get in trouble for doing this crap, but I wish they would.

I'll jump in and report it. Just goes to show that one needs to be very careful and read the entire post of the coins that are listed through e-bay. Maybe I'll go as far as buy the recent post for $9.99 so that I have the proof in my hands and then report it to the FBI. What do you guys think?

I've reported this too, after I stopped laughing on how the shipping instructions would be handled: Shipping: may up to 23 days or less. we seldom on ebay as this is our new platform to try our luck in coin selling online. we will back to ebay 2 or 3 days once to check and reply to all inbox. If you have any question, pls inbox to us. We spend long hours in our store and your coin will be packed and shipped 3 to 4 days after payment is confirmed. We will off for coming holidays from Dec 22nd till 28. ( One Week Off) All order will be shipped before or after the date. OR your coin will be carry together to our holiday trip and ship from the local shipping company. Again, take note that you will receive the coin in between 23 days + holiday.:hungover:

I don't think these are of Chinese origin, they are actually too crude for what the Chinese are pumping out now. I would think Central America based on fakes with similar quality and appearance of Hispanic coins I've seen.

There isn't a way to report a post on the EBay app, as far as I can tell. So, I'm going to jump on the laptop and report it.

The fact one can't do it with the app speaks loudly about how interested EBay is with this issue.
