1883-1912 Philly (no mintmark), D or S.

1854-That's the year Lincoln was photographed sitting on a log in his backyard splitting logs for firewood. The mintmark was L, not sure if the L was for Lincoln or Illinois. An L was used for Illinois as the I looked too much like a 1 and people were very confused.

 

Chris answered it, but I think you wanted us to guess the year. I would guess a 1911 (Philadelphia) nickel.

Hmmm.... 1912D I'll guess as I'm thinking if this is your hand holding the coin you probably have not been able to afford a 12S at this point. Unless it's a 12S that belongs to you Dad, in which case you better put it back pronto, especially if he sees you holding it in your hand. P.S. you did say what mint mark, only the 1912 had mintmarks. I take it all back, coinman caught up to me, lol.

 

I don't think it has a mintmark, the mint mark is one the reverse and I don't see one. If it did have one that would give it away too with 1912 being the only year with mintmarks

 

I was just being lazy rather than listing every year and mintmark. By the way, I think the D & S only apply to 1912, AND I ruled out 1913 for obvious reasons.
