It's an early start to the winter F.U.N. Show hotel space is getting tight. I noticed you are now directed to other locations for lodging rather than those on the initial list. I always go for the entire show. Anyone else attending? I am at The Marriott Waterside Hotel. Directly across from the Tampa Convention Center.
It must have taken some effort for the FUN staff to find a convention center with so few hotels nearby... Still, I expect it to be a fantastic show as always!
Got's my place in WinterHaven......I'll be commuting......NY folks don't shy away. We tend to the propensity of having to drive long miles.
I spoke with Doug (GDJMSP) last month and his problem was the opposite. The drive over from his Central Florida location is a bit much for him, so he won't be attending the Tampa Show this year. He didn't realize it wasn't in Orlando this coming January.
I'll be there Thursday through Saturday. I'm staying at a Residence Inn by the airport and renting a car. Cheaper than trying to stay near the convention center. I can give a ride to anyone else staying there.
I'm at the same place. I get in on Wed. and back out on Sunday. We didn't get a chance to BS much last year. Lets fix that. You need to join us green18. The Waterside is a great place. Lets plan something one evening. We can all kick back and talk about Doug and Chris.
I'm coming in on Wednesday afternoon and going out Monday morning. We could either exchange cell phone numbers or leave word at the desk giving our room number. It sounds like you may have stayed at the Waterside before? The only negative I have heard was their pool will be closed for repairs and upgrades the entire month of January. I guess the lounges will get more of our business instead. A fine place to kick back and talk. :>)
Well it wouldn't quite be the first. We started having live CT meetings at coin shows, including the FUN show, many years ago, and I always attended, until my health failed.
They were indeed, and always attracted a crowd of others none of us even knew. It led to some quite interesting discussions. I had my first live meeting with forum and on-line friends in the '90s, and continued them, several times a year at various coin shows around the country. Last year was the first year that I was unable to attend at least one. Sadly, this will be the second
I remember the first FUN Show I attended and meeting outside in a shady area at the front of the convention hall. We were reviewing all the purchases made by some of our members. What I thought might be just a short meeting turned into several hours.
Can't wait for the best show of the year, we can get our 2016 eagles, our fill on coins and some fresh Minneolas. They are always tops on my list. THe first fun show I went to I ended up driving to Fort Myers after the show and passed a farm stand of Minneolas #Tangelos and they were bigger than my hand. They were so juicy and sweat I couldn't eat one in a car. Too messy. Best fruit I ever had right off the trees. Never go to Florida in January without getting the juciest, sweetest oranges in the world.
