I feel so shallow. I have several coins and not one has a name. I Each has a number so I guess I'll have to get my name changed to zero.
That's an excellent tortoise drachm! Attention always seems to go to their big stater brothers, but I think the smaller fellows are great too and would be cuter to boot. My countermarked sea turtle stater.
Hey the Turtles are still a thing! My son watches the old episodes. I would like to own one. One day.
At times I regret restricting myself to just Flavian silver. The gorgeous coins in this thread are good examples of why. Someday I will start a separate collection consisting of 'odds and sods' and a turtle stater will be one of the first added.
Awesome coin JB, i love the Turtle coins. sweet !! Live action.. I won this coin a few Months ago. sorry Al, still haven't got a good pic. sellers pic. Aegina sea turtle..510-490.BC. 18.7mm x 12.04g.
I will not buy another coin before the end of the year. I will not....ok, where is my debit card? Man, you guys know how to tempt others with your amazing coin acquisitions. What can I say that others haven't said yet? Amazing coins you've got there...seriously! I should have taken up a cheaper hobby, like for example, lighting $10 cigars with $20 bills, or throwing rolled up Dollar bills into trash can baskets to hone my basketball skills...but I just love coins so much.
I just took a look at the price of turtles...ouch! Might have to auction off my right kidney away to be able to get one any time soon. Anyone know someone with money who needs a gently pre-owned right kidney with only one previous owner?
One thing I like about the hobby is that there are coins for all income brackets but sometimes we need to be careful not to go in over our heads. Football fans have the choice of watching on TV, buying a ticket, buying a season pass or buying a franchise. Turtles are terribly expensive if you have to have the best one there is and you have to have it right now. I hope not to buy any more this year either but I sure wish the last two I bought would get here. At this time of year I always worry about them being eaten by the reindeer.
