HN Italy 435 - Rutter in HNI stated this coin was often struck over other older issues. I noticed the lines on the reverse and hoped to see something underneath, but did not find anything.

It's 9 PM here in France, so I just finished dinner
No Thanksgiving here, it simply doesn't exist. BUT, in communion with my overseas friends, as I found some in my fridge, my dinner consisted in cold turkey with mustard and beer. Cheers my friends !

You are missing out. Great meal with all the trimmings. Next year I invite you to spend this holiday here in sunny Florida with my family.

Seriously, however, most Americans (generally speaking of course) have forgotten the real meaning of this holiday. It's a big meal and out to stores to shop for Christmas for many. My wife and I take time to give thanks to our Creator for all the good we have in our lives. No matter how bad things seem to be in the world, there is always something for which to be thankful.

 

It's funny that Thanksgiving for you dudes is about shopping (Black Thursday) ... Boxing-Day is Canada's day for big sales (funny, eh?)

Oh, but Boxing-day is the day after Christmas (I don't think you US brothers celebrate that day, do ya?)



=> either way, I love holidays and I love eating!! (I hope you dudes are about to sit down to a sweet turkey meal, with all the trimmings) ... I'm totally jealous!!

Both Black Friday and Boxing Day are big shopping days here in the US. Ostensibly, Black Friday is so you can get all your Christmas shopping done. Ultimately it's when you give up on a few people and just give them cash. Boxing Day is when you spend all your Christmas cash from the people that gave up trying to find you a real present.

Well, might as well post my other bird, though it would be a shame to roast a sacred eagle of Zeus.

I guess I can always pardon the eagle and roast the Constantius II phoenix. After all, I can only fit one bird in my ceramic bar-b-q.

We tried deep frying the turkey last year, didn't go so well...

I'm seriously getting hungry (you lucky dudes and your turkey dinners!!) ... well, I do have a steak and my wife hates steak, so once a week we have "cereal & steak" night (yah, she loves eating breakfast cereal )

I can't speak for anyone else, but this year I bought a huge ceramic bar-b-q and I've been cooking my turkey on it for the last 4.5 hours at 350F using natural wood and charcoals. I figured it's got to be better than cooking it in my electrical oven. The wood should give it a nicer flavor.

I don't collect US coins (anymore) but that sure is a nice one G18. Wish our current circulating coins looked more like the coins from the 19th-early 20th century.
