The only thing I don't like about the new label is the left justification. Literally everything else is centered on a slab, why left justify the text? It just looks off to me.
Has NGC done away with this new style label already? I sent some submissions in at the Whitman Expo a couple weeks ago. My standard orders have been graded already and the images clearly show the previous style label with everything centered. This is for both US and World orders.
I'm not sure I just had a submission come back about a month ago and they all had the older style label on them, I just thought that they were trying to get rid of older inventory but who knows.
The more I see the new label, the more I like it. Not sure what's going on with NGC's label inventory. I haven't heard anything about them scrapping the new design.
I don't mind the physical design of the new label, but the left justification looks awful. I'd pay a small premium per order to get the old labels if they offered it.
I spoke to an NGC customer service rep about the old labels being used on my recent submission, and she told me that they were told that they will probably switch over to the left justified label format at some point, however, this could change. If the new label hasn't been officially adopted yet, that implies that the earlier coins that were slabbed with the new format could have been a trial of the new label.
There is a good idea. The grading companies could start selling them and create a whole series of coinless slabs for collectors who buy the slab and not the coin. They could put a NGC token with the year of issue in it. This could be adopted by all the grading companies as well. You could sell them as exonumia.
Not all collectors share the same feelings. The word "we' might be a bit presumptuous and overly inclusive. Perhaps "most" or "nearly all" would be more fitting. They (The label hunters and various slab collectors) could have their own nitch this way. I for one, buy more raw coins and paper currency than encapsulated. It's not even a consideration to me but there are always others.
I generally do not care about holders.... BUT: I collect $2 1/2, and it would be fun to own one in different styles of holders, including old ones, etc. I do not have one in this style yet, even though I sent a bunch in to grade after they introduced it.
When somethings good why does it change, coca-cola changed until so many all complained, they went back to the real thing when somethings good why does it change? ATT and MCI are both good but they're mighty high....i like the old label.
Gee sorry to be presumptuous and overly inclusive. Hope no one was offended by my presumptuousness and over inclusiveness.
