I bought some bigger silver coins recently. These Mexican coins are huge and heavy. They're bimetallic with silver in the middle. I would like to get the whole set but there are more Mexican states than I realized and I can't afford them all. The Swedish 5 kronor is just one that I saw that I thought was nice. 1935 sweden 5 kroner.jpg 2004 mexico oaxaca 100 pesos.jpg 2004 mexico queretaro 100 pesos.jpg 2005 mexico california sur 100 pesos.jpg

I like the Kronur. I thought about the states coins a while back and came to the same conclusion you did. Too many and I really didn't care for the series. There are however, a lot of nice series from Mexico to collect.

Love those provincial tokens! ... and they fiddled with the dies enough to create a whole collecting specialty.

Agreed, it's not my favorite. I aspire to collect as many different Mexican coins as possible but with the coins selling for about $10 each I can't justify the expense for modern coins that aren't a great design.

Aussie silver was for about melt (win for me) I think they're in good condition just heavily toned (coughcoughtarnished) but who cares? And I have no idea why I got the kiwi florin. I already have one in a mint set but this one was calling my name haha. Maybe I'll use it as pocket piece with one of my roo pennies I'm trying to wear down.

I picked this up at the Baltimore show for $0.75. I really like it. I'm thinking maybe XF. What do you think?

1- Al-Hejaz, 20 Para, 1916-I learned that Al-Hejaz was a short lived kingdom on the west coast of Saudi Arabia (1916-1923)
    2- Morocco, 1/2 Dirham, 1881
Both took some time to figure out their origin but it was enjoyable.

Nice win today. Bought for the low sum of $9 shipped. Seller claims its AU, I would say probably more XF but this was a steal. Earlier date in a higher grade. pics aren't the best can't wait to see it in hand.

Looks like a typical weakly struck AU to me. I guess it depends if you go by the very conservative Aussie grading standards or not. Either way that is a great buy and a very nice coin :)

Thanks! @Numismat I think I'll have to see it in hand before I make a decision. When it comes to aussie coins I usually use their standards.

Sorry not Al-Hejaz if it was Al-Hejaz it would have a countermark across the obverse. This is a Turkish coin 1916, Mohammed V. Obviously I needed just alittle more time to figure it out ;)
