1936 wheat penny what is this under the date??

Is it raise or sunken in?

Might be a die chip or gouge if it's raised

almost like a strike through but for dies

 

Strike through are recessed and die dents are raised

 

LOL I know, my point is that dent in the die can be created just like a strike through happens on a coin.

 

What am I supposed to be seeing here. I see a normal 1936 cent.

I thought that was a piece of lint and its shadow.

 

OP says its raised in the field not sure if its coming out of an indent, caused from a die dent .

if it's a die dent, there should be more of them around. check your '36s
